Many geneology enthusiasts leverage a dedicated website. Welcome to ours.

As far as our intergenerational fragmented recollections go, our ancestors were first found to be settled in Kolkata, India in the late 19th century.  It is believed that our ancestors moved here from Uttar Pradesh. Their descendants gradually spread out to live in several places in the eastern region of India followed by many other places of the world!  Of all the places they went, perhaps the most remarkable is Bahuara – an Indian village in the state of Bihar, district of Rohtas.

Our mission is to gather, record, and research all aspects of our lineage. We believe that discovering more about our ancestors, celebrating family traditions and values, embracing our culture, and understanding where we came from are important.  Certainly, a well-preserved family history can boost our, as well as that of our children’s, sense of identity, self-worth, and self-esteem.

In the first phase, we will be building a repository of some basic biographic data of all our ancestors. A reliable database can serve as the foundation before we can start analyzing our lineage. In the long run, however, we are committed to taking a deeper dive into the history of our ancestors and documenting them.

We are curious to learn how the generations before us confronted both natural and artificial challenges to survive.  The knowledge of our ancestors’ resilience against those challenges can be the source of courage for those that we face today or may have to face in the future.  Moreover, if we do not celebrate and glorify our ancestors’ accomplishments, who would?

You might be wondering, what is Pahun?  Well, pahun is a Hindi word. One of the literary meanings of pahun is a respected guest.  We picked this word to name our website for two reasons. First, it is a common word that is widely used by the people of Bahuara in their conversations.  Second, our lifecycle has many similarities with a guest that stays for a short while.  Thus, just like a guest, our forefathers came to this world, lived their life, and passed away.  The cycle organically repeats itself generation after generation.

How can you help?

Only with your help can we reach our goal.

  • First, we need you to locate yourself or your immediate ancestors (parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents) from the published reports and/or charts posted here.
  • Then, go to add new menu to find the data sheets and instructions on how to complete and return them to us. For any required changes to the current data, use the contact us menu.

It is possible that we do not have you or your immediate ancestors recorded yet.  However, please be rest assured that we will act as soon as we get your data forwarded to us. We are committed to uploading new versions of the reports and charts as and when significant updates occur.

With your active participation and collaboration, we can leave behind a legacy of documented ancestry for future generations.  We are confident that our children will be pleased with your efforts and appreciate this beautiful gift of life.

Thank you for your time and interest in our genealogy.
